Romans, Markets and Bloody Bishops: Secret History of Bethnal Green

  • Bethnal Green Tube Station London E2 0ET United Kingdom (map)

The Bloody Bishop, Barmy Park, the Blind Beggar and the Krays are among the colourful characters and interesting places Daniella will tell us about as she takes us “down the Roman” and on to secret corners of Bethnal Green which throw light on the area’s colourful 2,000-year history. It’s not just gangsters, fascists, riots and wartime tragedy – on the bright side, Bethnal Green boasts Britain’s largest collection of toys and childhood memorabilia as well as some of the most famous street markets in the world, including the magnificent Columbia Road Flower Market where the walk ends and we can buy some blooms!
