Since it was first established 1500 years ago, Stepney has attracted the rich and famous: infamous monarchs, roving explorers, and men of religion and charity. There aren’t many areas where you can find out about King John, William Booth, Thomas Barnardo, Frederick Charrington and Thomas Cromwell! In this 75-minute Virtual Walk via Zoom, Daniella will show you Stepney’s rich history – the churches, palaces and gorgeous Georgian mansions. Stepney is an area that developed as a result of London Docks and was one of the heaviest bombed areas in World War Two. Not only was much of the area destroyed, but also the lives of the people who lived there. A place especially important to Daniella – its where she was brought up and has family connections going back nearly 500 years.
