The ruins of Lesnes Abbey date back to 1178 when Richard De Luci founded an abbey after being implicated in Thomas Becket’s murder. On this Guided Walk, you'll hear this story of medieval political intrigue and murder, walk around the ruins of the abbey and find out about what life was like living and working there. You'll visit a modern garden that is filled with plants the monks would have used and see an ancient mulberry tree before climbing up the hill to the surrounding woods which contain the remains of the abbey fishponds, are a fine example of ancient woodland that once covered most of the London area and provide a stunning view of London. Includes some woodland paths that might be muddy.
